Pool cost guides
What each project typically costs, what moves the number, and what no online tool can price. Every guide shows you what its project needs measured, so you can price your pool rather than an average one.
Remodeling and surface costs
- Pool Remodel Cost$14,000–$45,000Typical full remodel on an average 15 × 30 ft pool: new interior finish, waterline tile, coping and some deck work. Simple replastering starts near $8,500; extensive projects exceed $60,000.
- Pool Resurfacing Cost$8,500–$22,000Average 15 × 30 ft pool (about 945 sq ft of interior surface), white plaster at the low end and pebble at the high end, including drain, chip-out, refill and start-up.
- Pool Replastering Cost$8,500–$13,700Average 15 × 30 ft pool (about 945 sq ft of interior surface) in standard white plaster, including drain, chip-out, refill and chemical start-up.
Tile, coping and deck costs
- Pool Tile Replacement Cost$3,200–$6,400Average 15 × 30 ft pool with a 90-foot perimeter, ceramic through glass tile, installed as a standalone job including draining.
- Pool Coping Replacement Cost$3,700–$7,800Average 15 × 30 ft pool with a 90-foot perimeter, poured concrete through natural stone, installed. Excludes deck repair at the perimeter.
- Pool Deck Resurfacing Cost$3,600–$8,400Typical 600 sq ft pool deck, acrylic texture through paver overlay, over a structurally sound slab. Sub-base repair and drainage correction excluded.
- Pool Deck Repair Cost$400–$3,500Typical single-defect repair on a residential pool deck — crack filling, spall patching or lifting one settled section. Multi-defect decks run considerably higher.
Equipment repair and replacement costs

- Pool Pump Replacement Cost$900–$2,600Standard residential variable-speed pump through a high-performance unit, installed, including basic plumbing reconnection.
- Pool Heater Repair Cost$200–$900Common single-component heater repairs including a service call — igniter, sensor, control board or similar. Heat exchanger work runs considerably higher.
- Pool Heater Replacement Cost$2,800–$6,500Gas heater through electric heat pump, installed, for an average residential pool.

A national range is a starting point, not an answer
Published averages are wide because they blend every pool size, every finish, every regional labor market and every condition of shell into one number. That range tells you whether a project is plausible. It does not tell you what yours costs.
PoolSavr narrows it by pricing the surfaces you actually have — interior square footage, perimeter linear feet, deck area, measured from your own pool on a satellite map — against the materials you actually want. What remains uncertain after that is the condition of the shell beneath the old finish, and no online tool can see through water.
How to read a PoolSavr estimate
- Step 1
Instant estimate
Based on your project selections and general pricing assumptions. Useful for deciding whether a project is realistic.
- Step 2
Measured estimate
Uses your pool, spa, or deck dimensions to price the work against the areas actually being resurfaced, tiled, or replaced.
- Step 3
Contractor proposal
Prepared by a licensed professional after inspecting the site. This is the only number that becomes a contract.
PoolSavr is an estimating and matching platform. We do not perform pool work ourselves — licensed local professionals do. Contractors pay PoolSavr for qualified project leads, which is how the estimating tools stay free for homeowners. A PoolSavr estimate is a planning range, never a guaranteed quote — read thefull estimate disclaimer.
